TE Blake Bell joins Dallas Cowboys

Former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Blake Bell has reportedly signed with the Dallas Cowboys to be the backup to TE Blake Jarwin on the team’s offense.

With Travis Kelce and Dion Yelder as the team’s only tight ends, this means the Chiefs will have to go back to the drawing board to find depth at the position.

Bell joined the Chiefs roster on April 2, 2019, to compete for the second tight end spot after former Chief Demetrius Harris signed with the Cleveland Browns via free agency. He eventually won the job and was a nice fit as the Chiefs backup tight end behind Travis Kelce, and was heavily involved in Andy Reid’s multiple tight end sets, particularly in the run game as an outside blocker.

Bell provided another passing option for Patrick Mahomes to throw to and caught his lone touchdown pass in the 3rd quarter against the Houston Texans in the divisional round of the postseason.

Bell was listed on an earlier post listing the ‘Top Five Free Agents the Chiefs Should Bring Back’ because of his impact in the run game, his knowledge of Andy’s Reid’s playbook, and his cheap contract number.

Bell now moves onto his fifth NFL team since getting drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015.
