Six Chiefs named to 2010s All-Decade Team

The NFL and Pro Football Hall of Fame named 52 players and two head coaches to the 2010s All-Decade Team on Monday afternoon. The list features players that were the best at their respected position from 2010 to 2019.

Out of the 52 players selected, six Kansas City Chiefs players, four still with the team, made it onto the roster.

The six Chiefs players selected include running back LeSean McCoy, tight end Travis Kelce, cornerback Darrelle Revis, safeties Eric Berry and Tyrann Mathieu, and wide receiver/return man Tyreek Hill.

  • Tight end Travis Kelce (2013 – Present) was the only other tight end, next to Rob Gronkowski, that made the All-Decade Team. Kelce was drafted by the Chiefs in 2013 but didn’t get involved with the team’s offense until a year later. In six seasons under Andy Reid in Kansas City, Kelce has so far collected 507 receptions for 6,465 yards and 37 touchdowns. Kelce has also been named to the Pro Bowl five times (2015-2019) and been an All-Pro over the previous four seasons.
  • Wide receiver Tyreek Hill (2016 – Present) made the All-Decade Team as a return specialist, along with Darren Sproles, Devin Hester, and Cordarrelle Patterson. By no surprise, Hill made the list purely due to his unbelievable speed. In just four seasons so far, Hill has registered 281 receptions for 4,115 yards and 32 touchdowns as a receiver, 500 yards and 4 touchdowns on 71 carries as a rusher and have returned 85 punts for 1,009 yards and 4 touchdowns 1,393 yards and 5 touchdowns as a punt returner. Hill has been to the Pro Bowl every year since entering the league and was an All-Pro in 2016 and 2018.
  • Safety Eric Berry (2010 – 2018) was one of three safeties named on the All-Decade roster for being one of the premier safeties from the past decade. Selected 5th overall in 2010, Berry spent nine seasons in the NFL, all with Kansas City, and accumulated 455 tackles, 50 passes defended, 14 interceptions for 374 yards and five touchdowns, 3 forced fumbles and 5.5 sacks. Berry has been to the Pro Bowl five times (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and is a three-time All-Pro in 2013, 2015 and 2016. He was also the NFL’s 2015 Comeback Player of the Year for playing a full 16-game season after suffering Hodgkin’s Lymphoma the year prior.
  • Defensive back Tyrann Mathieu (2019 – Present) makes the All-Decade Team primarily from his team spent with the Arizona Cardinals (2013-2017). Mathieu also played a season with the Houston Texans in 2018 before finding his new home in Kansas City. In seven seasons so far, Mathieu has compiled 472 tackles, 61 passes defended, 17 interceptions for 209 yards and a pick-six, 4 forced fumbles and 9 sacks. The Honey Badger was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2015 and was a two-time All-Pro in 2015 and 2019.
  • Cornerback Darrelle Revis (2017) played with the Chiefs during the 2017 season where he amassed 11 tackles in five games. Revis is primarily known for his time spent with the New York Jets, where he earned the nickname ‘Revis Island’ for his ability to be a lockdown corner in one on one coverage. Revis also had short one-year stints with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 11 seasons (2007-2017), Revis has built up 494 career tackles, 139 passes defended, 29 interceptions for 466 yards and 3 touchdowns, 6 forced fumbles and 2 sacks. Revis has also been a seven-time pro bowler (2008-2011, 2013-2015) and a four-time All-Pro in 2009-2011 and 2014.
  • LeSean McCoy (2019) also makes the list but more so for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2009-2014) and the Buffalo Bills (2015-2018). However, McCoy will be able to retire with a Super Bowl ring from his short time with the Chiefs. In 11 seasons, McCoy has totaled 2,447 carries for 11,071 yards and 73 touchdowns on the ground and 503 receptions for 3,797 yards and 16 touchdowns through the air. McCoy has been to the Pro Bowl six times (2011, 2013-2017) and was an All-Pro in 2011 and 2013. He was also the league’s rushing leader in 2013, the rushing touchdowns leader in 2011 and the current All-Time leading rusher of the Philadelphia Eagles.
