Report: Chiefs will allow WR Byron Pringle to walk in FA

The receiving core for Kansas City will look very different in 2022. The Chiefs will let three-year veteran Byron Pringle walk into free agency, Fansided’s Matt Lombardo reports.

The news is a little surprising since Pringle is only 28 years old and still has plenty of good football left in him.

Pringle is coming off a career year where he caught 42 passes for 568 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Many Chiefs fans who also cheer for Kansas State football were hoping to see the former Wildcard return to Kansas City on a new contract, but it seems Brett Veach has other plans for the wide receiver position.

Pringle entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018 before signing with Kansas City as a member of the practice squad. Over the following three seasons, he’s developed into a promising threat from the slot with 67 catches for 898 yards and seven touchdowns.

Now, Pringle will be entering the next chapter of his NFL career, looking for his first big payday.
