Mecole Hardman to begin 21-day practice window

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting another playmaker just in time for the playoffs. Veteran wide receiver Mecole Hardman has played a role in all five of his team’s postseason appearances since 2019, and it looks like he’ll be a part of another one.

During his Wednesday presser, head coach Andy Reid told reporters Hardman will open his 21-day practice window to come off injured reserve and return to the active roster.

“Mecole (Hardman) will practice. He’s [been] activated into the 21-day window,” said Reid.

If Reid feels Hardman is healthy enough to return, he will activate him and let him suit up with his teammates. Hardman missed the last four games with a knee injury.

Before getting injured, the Georgia product hasn’t been the most productive this season, with just 12 catches for 90 yards in 12 games. He’s been a slightly better asset as a punt returner, with 20 returns for 203 yards.

Still, Hardman provides extra depth and gives Patrick Mahomes another option to throw to. Last postseason, Hardman made the catch of his career, being on the receiving end of Mahomes’ game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl LVIII.

Kansas City drafted Hardman in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
