Kimble Anders to be inducted to Chiefs’ Hall of Fame

Former Kansas City Chiefs fullback Kimble Anders will be the newest member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame, the team announced on Saturday afternoon. The honor was announced during the Chiefs’ Draft Fest on Day Three of the 2022 NFL Draft.

“My family and I are very excited to announce Kimble as this year’s inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “Many times, the grunt work of a fullback is met with very little fanfare, but Kimble accumulated some truly remarkable stats during his career and was a key fixture in the team’s offense for a decade.

“His durability, versatility, and consistency as a rusher, receiver, and blocker made him one of the most complete fullbacks of his era. Following his playing career, Kimble embarked on a coaching career that positively impacted youth here in Kansas City and his hometown of Galveston, Texas. We are looking forward to celebrating Kimble’s Hall of Fame induction at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium this fall.”

The Chiefs signed Anders in 1991 after spending his rookie campaign as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent the next ten seasons (1991-2000) as a member of Kansas City’s roster under former head coaches Marty Schottenheimer and Gunther Cunningham.

From 1993 to 1997, Anders paved the way for Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen while also being a threat whenever the ball was in his hands, recording over 5,000 all-purpose yards and 18 total touchdowns and being named to the Pro Bowl three consecutive times from ’95-’97.

His 125 games played are tied for the second-most by a running back or fullback in Chiefs franchise history. Anders also ranks 15th in team history with 2,261 rushing yards and 14th with 2,829 receiving yards.
