Kickoff time for Kansas City Chiefs season finale announced

The National Football League announced the dates and times for the games that will be played in the final week of the 2024 regular season. That includes the Kansas City Chiefs road matchup against the Denver Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs knew they would close out the 2024 regular season against their AFC West foe, the Denver Broncos, at Empower Field at Mile High since the schedule was released last spring. What we’ve learned is the day and time the game will be played.

The league announced the Chiefs’ Week 18 matchup will kick off on Sunday, January 5, at 3:25 p.m. Central Daylight Time.

This game holds more value to the Broncos, who need to win to make the playoffs. Kansas City is expected to treat the season finale like a preseason game as the team continues to rest its starters for the upcoming playoff run as the two-time defending Super Bowl champions.

Denver nearly defeated Kansas City back in Week 10, but a miraculously blocked field goal by linebacker Leo Chenal dashed the Broncos’ hopes of winning in the final seconds and preserved the Chiefs’ undefeated streak at the time. Since then, Kansas City has run to a 15-1 record and has locked up the AFC West and the top seed in the AFC playoffs.

The Chiefs are 5-1 in Week 18 games in the Mahomes era. Last season, the Chiefs rested their starters in their 2023 season finale, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 13-12.
