Kansas City Chiefs sign CB Steven Nelson to practice squad.

The Kansas City Chiefs officially added a familiar name to their defensive backfield on Monday afternoon.

The Chiefs announced on X they signed cornerback Steven Nelson, 31, to the practice squad. Over the weekend, Chiefs beat writer Matt Derrick originally reported that Nelson was scheduled to visit the team today.

Obviously, the Chiefs made sure Nelson didn’t leave the building without a contract. Now, he’s a member of the Chiefs for the first time since 2018.

Nelson began his career with Kansas City as a third-round pick in 2015, where he played for four seasons. After 2018, he had stints with the Steelers, Eagles, and Texans.

He’s been out of football since the end of the 2023 campaign until he got a call from the Chiefs. Now, he’s back where he started and will likely see some playing time before the regular season ends.
