The 2024 NFL season is officially in the books and the Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready for the offseason by signing 11 players to reserve/future contracts. These players will push to make the team’s 53-man roster next fall. Every one of these players finished the season on Kansas City’s practice squad.
According to the NFL transaction report, the Chiefs signed:
- Chris Oladokun – QB
- Chukwuebuka Godrick – OL
- Jason Brownlee – WR
- Tyquan Thornton – WR
- Justyn Ross – WR
- Baylor Cupp – TE
- Darius Rush – DB
- Eric Scott – DB
- Deon Bush – DB
- Fabien Lovett – DT
- Siaki Ika – DT
Previously, the Chiefs had signed linebacker Shaun Bradley and safety Jason Taylor III to reserve/future deals back on January 9.
Oladokun, Ross, Cupp, and Bush all received game reps with the Chiefs during the regular season. Cupp ended the year on the practice squad injured list. Godrick has been with the Chiefs for the last two years under an international exemption and he may receive the exemption again in 2025.
Bush spent the last two seasons with the Chiefs, bouncing between the club’s practice squad and active roster. Thornton is a former second-round selection of the New England Patriots who joined Kansas City’s practice squad in November after being released. Scott was a player the Dallas Cowboys traded up with Kansas City to draft in the sixth round of the 2023 draft. But after Scott failed to survive Dallas’ wave of cuts after the preseason, the Chiefs claimed him off waivers to join the practice squad.
These signings will not be made official until the new league year begins next month. When official, these signings will give the Chiefs 48 players signed for 2025. The players that were on Kansas City’s practice squad year that have not received and reserve/future from the team include: linebackers Swayze Bozeman and Cole Christiansen, tight end Anthony Firkser, running back Keaontay Ingram, cornerbacks Nic Jones and Steven Nelson, and wide receiver Montrell Washington.
