The Kansas City Chiefs will NOT have their elite kicker for their Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. Matt Ammendola, who signed with Kansas City earlier this week, will get the start on special teams. Harrison Butker injured his ankle on Sept 11 in KC’s Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals. On a short week, the Chiefs felt it would be in Butker’s best interest to sit out the second game of the regular season.

Trey Smith, who also suffered a tweaked ankle in Week 1, is the only player that’s questionable for Thursday night. Overall, the Chiefs were full-go at practice and should be ready for the Chargers.

The Chargers will be without two of their big playmakers on offense. Wide receiver Keenan Allen and tight end Donald Parham Jr. will both be out due to hamstring injuries. Last Sunday, Allen sustained his injury during the bolts’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders, and Parham was inactive for the same injury last weekend.
Cornerback J.C. Jackson might finally be available to the Charger defense after undergoing ankle surgery on Aug 23. He is questionable to play against Kansas City in Week 2.
