Former Chiefs DB Jordan Lucas signs with Chicago

Kansas City is losing another one of its in-house free agents as safety Jordan Lucas has reportedly signed with the Chicago Bears per NFL Network.

Lucas will now join former Chiefs offensive coordinator and Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy on a one-year contract worth $1 million to compete for a role in Chicago’s defensive backfield and special team’s unit.

Lucas was selected in the 7th round of the 2016 NFL Draft from Penn State by the Miami Dolphins. He was traded to Kansas City in exchange for a seventh-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft in 2018.

While with the Chiefs, Lucas became a special team’s stalwart and an excellent depth guy at safety. In two seasons with Kansas City, Lucas registered 39 combined tackles and one interception. He was also a part of Dave Toub’s special teams unit that helped with Super Bowl 54 for Kansas City.

Lucas is the second defensive back and fourth former Chief to leave via free agency thus far.
