Demarcus Robinson re-signs with Kansas City

Kansas City has brought back one of its playmakers from last year’s Super Bowl roster.

NFL reporter Tom Pelissero reports that the Chiefs have re-signed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson to a one-year contract.

In 2019, Robinson had his best season, statically, with the club since getting drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 draft, starting 10 games and catching 32 passes for 449 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The 25-year-old had his best games of 2019 at Oakland Coliseum in Week 2 where he made 6 receptions for 172 yards and two touchdowns in Kansas City’s 28-10 victory over the Raiders.

Robinson also caught interest from other clubs including the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles but chose to re-sign with Kansas City to continue catching passes from Patrick Mahomes rather than New York’s David Jones nor Philly’s Carson Wentz.

For now, the Chiefs now head into 2020 with the same receiving core they won Super Bowl 54 with. However, we still don’t know what the future holds for Sammy Watkins and his $21 million cap hit.
