Chiefs WR Justyn Ross charged with domestic violence, criminal damage

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was released from Johnson County jail in Olathe after posting $2500 bound on Tuesday evening. On Monday, Ross was arrested and charged with domestic violence and criminal damage to property valued at less than $1,000.

According to police, Ross reportedly dragged his ex-girlfriend around the home they shared while also causing damage to the residence and her belongings, which included her cell phone. The ex-girlfriend was able to call 911 using a neighbor’s phone. Ross was also allegedly armed with a firearm during the altercation.

Following his arrest, Ross spent the night in jail and reported to a virtual court hearing from his cell before his release. He pleaded not guilty to the accusations. Ross will have a second court hearing on December 4.

Ross’ ex-girlfriend appeared in court during his hearing to request the judge not allow Ross to contact her, which was granted, and Ross was asked not to return to the residence until after 7 p.m. Tuesday to give his ex enough time to gather her belongings. Ross’ attorney also asked the judge that one of Ross’ family members remain at the home while his ex was there, which was also granted.

All info about what led to the events on Monday afternoon has yet to be released.

The Chiefs have not commented on Ross’ arrest but have said they know what has occurred involving one of their young wide receivers. Ross joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but sat the year out with an injury. The former Clemson star received a lot of hype going into the 2023 season and flashed in training camp and preseason. However, he’s only played 81 snaps and registered three catches for 34 yards.

No word yet on how Ross’ recent actions will impact his current situation with the Chiefs, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the team decides to part ways.

Information from Fox 4 Kansas City was used in this report.
