Chiefs waive DB Darius Rush, activate Chris Jones

Before they get set to play the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field this Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs made a small roster move.

According to the NFL’s daily transactions report, the Chiefs waived defensive back Darius Rush, who the team signed off the waiver wire after final cuts in late August. The move was made to make room for defensive tackle Chris Jones on the active roster now that his holdout for a new contract was resolved earlier this week.

Rush was a fifth-round draft pick from this past spring’s draft by the Colts and landed with the Chiefs after failing to make Indianapolis’ roster following the preseason. Rush’s rookie season is off to a rocky beginning as he searches for his third team since entering the NFL five months ago.

Although he’s listed as QUESTIONABLE in the Chiefs’ official depth chart, Jones being active on the roster means he’ll likely make his 2023 season debut on Sunday.
