Chiefs to finish ‘Phase Three’ of Mini Camp on Tuesday

The Kansas City Chiefs have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming 2021 season during OTAs. On Tuesday, the Chiefs will conclude Phase Three of their off-season program with a mandatory three-day minicamp that will proceed through Thursday (6/17) of this week.

This follows the 10 days of voluntary OTA practices from over the previous three weeks. Now, all 90 players on the team’s roster are required to show up or will be subject to pay fines as directed by the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA): $15,500 for a first offense, $31,000 for a second offense, and $46,500 for a third offense.

Under the modified off-season rules for 2021, the following is what’s allowed during Phase Three:

“Phase Three (May 24-June 18) remains its customary four weeks in length. Beginning in Phase Three, clubs may conduct in-person meetings and classroom instruction subject to COVID-19 testing cadence, tracking, facility access, and other protocols. No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.”

These will be the final practices the Chiefs will hold before the team begins to pack up and head to Saint Joseph for the start of Training Camp. All 90 players will be expected to report for camp on July 27.
