Chiefs-Texans Final Week 16 Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs released their final injury report before they history the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon. The Chiefs watched two players come off the report and will play in Week 16.

The team got a big scare last weekend when quarterback Patrick Mahomes went down with a high-ankle sprain in the fourth quarter against the Cleveland Browns. Mahomes did practice in full this week and was taken off the injury report on Thursday.

Kansas City will finally see their WR1 Hollywood Brown (shoulder) make his Chiefs debut after being on IR for more than four months.

Creed Humphrey (ankle) , Harrison Butker (knee), and Jawaan Taylor (knee) were also full participants this week and will play against the Texans.

However, tackle D.J. Humphries is still battling a hamstring injury he suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14 and defensive back Chamarri Conner entered concussion protocol this week.

During his presser on Thursday, head coach Andy Reid said neither player will dress on Saturday but won’t rule out Conner being out of concussion protocol in time for Kansas City’s Christmas game against Pittsburgh.

“There’s a chance [he plays on] Wednesday but right now, [Chamarri Conner is] still in the protocol,” said Reid. “He’s doing better every day, so we’ll just have to see. [He’s] definitely out for this game.”

Reid also mentioned Humphries will eventually return to his starting role at left tackle. Right now, Reid’s concern is ensuring the ten-year vet returns to full strength.

“Yeah, we just have to let that hamstring [do its thing],” Reid explained. “I don’t want him to go out and [re-injure] it again but yeah, eventually he’ll get back in there and get going.”

“He’s been going out and running to see – to test it,” Reid continued. “He doesn’t have that explosion right now but it’s getting better as we go.”

On Friday, the Chiefs reportedly added linebacker Leo Chenal to the injury report with an illness. He is questionable for tomorrow’s game.
