The Kansas City Chiefs added another player to its list of reserve/future contracts for 2025. The team signed 11 from its 2024 practice squad earlier this week.
According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Chiefs signed tight end Anthony Firkser to a reserve/future contract. He is the 12th player Kansas City has signed since losing the Super Bowl. All reserve/future contracts will be made official after the new league year begins on March 12.
Firkser is an eight-year veteran journeyman who’s bounced around the league. First entering the NFL with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2017 following a four-year collegiate career at Harvard.
After spending his rookie year on the practice squads of the Jets and Chiefs, Firkser landed with the Tennessee Titans in 2018 and four seasons in Nashville, wracking up 106 receptions for 1,107 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Following a brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons in 2022, Firkser spent time with the New England Patriots (2023), Detroit Lions (2023), and New York Jets (2024) before landing back in Kansas City on November 2, 2024.
Firsker joins a tight ends room that includes Noah Gray, Jared Wiley, and Baylor Cupp, who’ll be competing to join the Chiefs’ 2025 roster this summer. Depending on what Travis Kelce decides with his future, Kansas City may add more competition to the tight end position should the starting job be available.
