Chiefs sign TE Ricky Seals-Jones to a one-year contract

The Kansas City Chiefs have just filled a major hole in their tight end core with the addition of former Cleveland Browns tight end Ricky Seals-Jones, per Terez Paylor of Yahoo! Sports.

At 6-feet-5-inches and 243 pounds, Seals-Jones, 25, instantly takes over as the second-best tight end on the Chiefs roster next to starter Travis Kelce. He replaces tight end Blake Bell, who Kansas City wanted to keep, but left to join the Dallas Cowboys via free agency.

Seals-Jones originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M with the Arizona Cardinals in 2017. There, he spent his first two seasons in the NFL catching a combined 46 receptions for 544 yards and 4 touchdowns.

On August 31, 2019, Seals-Jones was waived by Arizona during final roster cuts and was picked up by Cleveland a day later. In 14 games, Seals-Jones caught 14 receptions for 229 yards and 4 touchdowns with the Browns in 2019.

Seals-Jones now joins the Chiefs on a one-year deal to compete with Deon Yelder and Nick Keizer, and Alize Mack for the backup tight end spot opposite Travis Kelce.
