Chiefs sign seven 2022 draft picks, ten undrafted free agents

The Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of 17 total rookies on Friday. Seven players from their 2022 draft class have signed their rookie deals, and ten undrafted free agents were officially added to the roster, per the team’s official Twitter.

First-round defensive end George Karlaftis was the first to sign his rookie contract, followed by second-round safety Bryan Cook, seventh-round defensive back Nazeeh Johnson, fifth-round right tackle Darian Kinnard, first-round defensive back Trent McDuffie, seventh-round running back Isiah Pacheco and seventh-round cornerback Jaylen Watson.

The only players in Kansas City’s 2022 draft class that have yet to sign are second-round wide receiver Skyy Moore, third-round linebacker Leo Chenal, and fourth-round defensive back Joshua Williams.

Kansas City also announced they’ve officially signed ten undrafted free agents onto the roster. Unlike the first seven rounds, where the team selected players on the defensive side of the ball, their undrafted rookie class was mostly offensive position players:

Offensive guard – Mike Caliendo – Western Michigan

Linebacker – Jack Cochrane – South Dakota

Quarterback – Dustin Crum – Kent State

Running back – Jerrion Early – Ole Miss

Running back – Tayon Fleet-Davis – Maryland

Defensive back – Nasir Greer – Wake Forest

Tight end – Kehinde Oginni – International

Offensive tackle – Gene Pryor – Hawaii

Linebacker – Mike Rose – Iowa State

Wide receiver – Justyn Ross – Clemson

The Chiefs waived wide receiver Gehrig Dieter, wide receiver Gary Jennings, defensive tackle Lorenzo Neal, tight end Josh Pederson, defensive end Jonathan Woodard and tight end Nakia Griffin-Stewart on Thursday, per NFL Insider Field Yates. The team also released center Austin Reiter on Friday, likely to make room for the new wave of rookies coming in.

Kansas City’s rookie minicamp begins on Saturday afternoon (May 7) and will run through Monday (May 9).
