Chiefs sign OL Geron Christian to one-year contract

The Kansas City Chiefs signed another free agent over the weekend, adding a new member to the offensive line.

As first reported by Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson on Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs have picked up offensive lineman Geron Christian on a one-year deal.

Christian, 28, is an experienced swing tackle that is expected to replace Mike Remmers as depth along the o-line. But he could also compete with Lucas Niang and Andrew Wylie for the starting right tackle spot at 6-foot-6 and 315-pounds.

Christian entered the NFL in 2018 as a third-round selection by the now Washington Commanders, where he spent the first three seasons of his career before landing with the Houston Texans for the 2021 campaign.

During his time in Washington, Christian suffered a pair of knee injuries in 2018 and 2020, appearing in 24 games. Since then, he’s shown he can still contribute on the o-line.

In 2021, he appeared in 14 games for the Texans, making eight starts. On 588 snaps, Christian allowed one sack.

Although most of Christian’s snaps were taken at left tackle, his NFL debut in 2018 was at right tackle. So he has the experience to fit in with the Chiefs’ offensive line room as a depth piece if nothing else.
