Chiefs release WR Corey Coleman from the practice squad

As a result of signing wide receiver Marcus Kemp to the practice squad yesterday, the Kansas City Chiefs released wide receiver Corey Coleman on Tuesday afternoon, per the NFL’s official transaction report.

Coleman was one of the veteran receivers the Chiefs rounded up over the offseason, signing him on March 24, 2022. Coleman spent the entire offseason with Kansas City and appeared to be on his way toward earning a roster spot.

However, the Chiefs had different plans and waived the veteran during final cuts on August 30. He’s been a member of the team’s practice squad since September 13 up to the time of his release.

Before his Chiefs tenor began, Coleman began his NFL career as a first-rounder draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2016. He spent two seasons in Cleveland before spending limited time with the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, and New York Giants during the 2018 NFL season. He remained in New York for two more seasons before spending the 2021 campaign out of football.

Coleman has not caught a pass in a regular season game since 2018 as a member of the Giants.
