Chiefs place Justyn Ross on IR, sign two offensive tackles

Following reports that left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. will not be attending training camp, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Kansas City Chiefs have added two extra bodies to compete along the offensive line.

As reported via the team’s official Twitter account, the Kansas City Chiefs announced they have signed veteran offensive tackles Evin Ksiezarczyk and David Steinmetz on Monday afternoon.

The team also officially placed undrafted rookie wide receiver Justyn Ross on season-ending injured reserve.

Steinmetz, 27, entered the league as an undrafted rookie out of Purdue in 2018. Following a short stint with the Miami Dolphins, he spent most of 2018 and 2019 on the Houston Texans’ practice squad. For the last two seasons, he bounced between the practice squad and the active roster of the Washington Football Team.

Evin Ksiezarczyk, 25, was a First-Team All-American for the Buffalo Bulls in 2019 before going undrafted in 2020. He entered the league with the Atlanta Falcons but failed to make the team’s roster during final cuts and spent the ’20 season out of football.

During the 2021 offseason, Ksiezarczyk signed with the Minnesota Vikings but was waived before the season began. During the ’21 season, he spent time on the practice squads of the Washington Football Team and Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs also announced placing undrafted rookie Justyn Ross on season-ending injured reserve. This comes as no surprise; the receiver was placed on the physically unable to perform list on Saturday after rehabbing from surgery on his foot. Ross will miss the entirety of the 2022 season but will have a chance to compete next year.
