Chiefs Hollywood Brown expected back in time for postseason surge

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting some wonderful news regarding one of their free-agency additions from last spring. Veteran Marquise “Hollywood” Brown made a name for himself as one of the most explosive and dynamic playmakers on the gridiron since his college days at Oklahoma. Last spring, Brown signed with the Chiefs to help bolster the team’s offensive passing attack and strengthen a struggling wide receiver room.

Unfortunately, after plenty of build-up and anticipation of Mahomes finally having a speedster to sling the ball to, Brown played a total of two snaps of the preseason before suffering a shoulder injury that has wiped out thirteen weeks and counting of his debut season with Kansas City. As the team prepares for Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, NFL insider Ian Rapoport released some outstanding news regarding the Chiefs’ star veteran.

According to Rapoport, there’s a positive outlook that Brown will likely be allowed to return to the Chiefs just in time for the club’s annual postseason run depending on a few factors. Brown is expected to meet with doctors during Week 15 to perform some tests. Should he pass, he’ll officially be medically cleared to return to the field for Kansas City’s Week 16 matchup against the Houston Texans on December 21 at the earliest.

This is outstanding news for the Chiefs, who struggle to sustain offensive drives, especially in the red zone. Getting Brown back adds a much-needed weapon to join Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, DeAndre Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Kansas City just welcomed running back Isiah Pacheco and defensive end Charles Omenihu back to the lineup after both players spent significant time away from the team due to injuries. Now, it sounds like it won’t be long until Hollywood joins them just in the nick of time for the postseason surge.
