Chiefs guard Kelechi Osemele tears tendons in both knees

Kansas City Chiefs left guard Kelechi Osemele, 31, has turned out to be a solid addition on the offensive line over the first four games of the season, and the team was enthused about him protecting Patrick Mahomes’ blindside as the season progressed.

Unfortunately, it seems like Kansas City will be without their starting left guard for an extensive amount of time, possibly the remainder of the 2020 campaign.

After attempting to block on a Patrick Mahomes scramble in the first quarter, Osemele’s knees seemed to buckle underneath him, causing him to collapse onto the field. He was soon carted off to the locker room, and Mike Remmers replaced him on the o-line.

After the Chiefs’ 40-32 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, the team received word that Osemele tore tendons in both of his knees.

During his post-game press conference, Head Coach Andy Reid didn’t give much of an outlook on the injury, however, it’s sure to be while before Osemele fully recovers.

The also saw receiver Sammy Watkins leave early with a hamstring injury during the first half as well. Word on his recovery and a timeline for his return to the practice field should be out in a few days.
