Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark was charged with felony possession of a concealed firearm in Los Angeles, per LAPD Information officer Tony Im.
Clark, 28, was pulled over for a traffic violation south of the downtown area Sunday night. Upon walking up to Clark’s vehicle, officers noticed a bag with a UZI submachine gun sticking out in plain sight inside the car. Clark was arrested with felony illegal possession of a firearm.
According to the county sheriff’s jail inmate website, Clark was booked into the Los Angeles County jail and was released on Monday afternoon after posting a $35,000 bond.
Following the incident, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the following:
“We are aware of the matter, which will be reviewed under the NFL’s personal conduct policy”.
According to TMZ Sports, Clark claimed the firearm belonged to a security team member, and Attorney Alex Spiro will represent him moving forward in this case.
Kansas City traded for Clark’s services in 2019, then signed him to a five-year, $105 million. While Clark did attend the team’s mandatory minicamp last week, he was absent for the voluntary phase of the Chiefs’ off-season program.
Thus far, nobody within the Chiefs organization has commented on the situation.
