Chiefs announce 8 changes to coaching staff for 2021

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced a list of adjustments to their coaching staff ahead of the 2021 NFL season. Most of the changes Kansas City has made to Head Coach Andy Reid’s staff include shuffled roles and promotions to coaches who were already with the Chiefs last season and years previous.

Those changes are as follows:

  •  Greg Lewis has been promoted to Running Backs Coach after serving as the teams’ Wide Receivers Coach since 2017.
  • Joe Bleymaier has been promoted to Wide Receivers coach after serving as the team’s Pass Game Analyst and Assistant Quarterbacks Coach.
  • David Girardi steps in as the Pass Game Analyst and Assistant Quarterbacks Coach after serving as an Offensive Quality Control Coach for the past four seasons.
  • Connor Embree switches to the offensive side of the ball, working as an Offensive Quality Control Coach after working as a defensive assistant for the past few seasons.
  • Terry Bradden Jr. spent three seasons as an Offensive Quality Control Coach, but will now serve as the Assistant Defensive Line Coach.

The Chiefs also made three new hires to the coaching, including the replacement of former linebackers coach Britt Reid, whose contract was not renewed after he was involved in a drunk driving incident that left a five-year-old girl severely injured. Former Philadelphia Eagles assistant Ken Flajole will take over as the Chiefs linebackers coach.

Also joining Kansas City are former Youngstown State Defensive Coordinator Donald D’Alesio, who’ll take on the role as a defensive assistant, and former Los Angeles Chargers Strength and Conditioning coach Tyler Judkins, who’ll resume the same role with the Chiefs.
