Chiefs activate Tyrann Mathieu to active roster, plus other roster moves

The Kansas City Chiefs made some roster moves on Saturday afternoon. The biggest being the activation of safety Tyrann Mathieu to the 53-man roster, who’s been on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list since September 1.

The Chiefs also announced a few tweaks to the practice squad.

This means Mathieu is now eligible to suit up for Kansas City’s Week 1 matchup with the Cleveland Browns, which is set to kick off at 3:35 p.m. Arrowhead time at Arrowhead Stadium.

However, a new question arises, with speculation on if Mathieu will actually play and how much.

Kansas City also announced a few practice squad moves. They’ve reportedly elevated undrafted rookie and defensive back Zayne Anderson to the active roster.

The Chiefs have also released undrafted rookie defensive back Shakur Brown from the practice squad and have signed linebacker Elijah Sullivan to replace him.

Sullivan is an undrafted rookie who previously signed with the practice squad units of the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks over the summer before finding his way to Kansas City.
