Andy Reid taken to hospital following loss to Chargers

Following Kansas City’s latest defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers, Head Coach Andy Reid did not address the media as traditionally would after games. It was soon after that a team official reported that Reid was not feeling well shortly after the game ended.

Instead, Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub stood in Reid’s place to speak with reporters.

“He just wasn’t feeling well after the game,” Toub said. “He did talk to the team, and it was a good talk. Pretty much, ‘You have to quit the turnovers.’”

Reid, 68, was taken to the hospital via ambulance as a precautionary measure, per NFL Insider James Palmer. However, the Chiefs did not officially confirm NFL Network’s report.

Players seemed to be unaware of Reid’s condition during the game. When quarterback Patrick Mahomes took the podium, he told reporters that the head coach seemed fine.

“He came in and talked to us and he seemed fine,” said Mahomes. “So that’s all I know. He seemed fine on the sideline, as well.”

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora also confirmed Palmer’s report and even revealed Reid was dehydrated when he wasn’t feeling well. The game was played on a sunny afternoon and the Chiefs sideline was in the direct sun. The on-field temperature at the Noon kickoff was 81-degree and steadily rose to 92-degrees by the time the game ended a little after 3 p.m.

After today’s loss, the Chiefs are in the basement of the AFC West division as they fall to 1-2 on the season for the first time since 2015.
