Andy Reid says wide receiver Mecole Hardman could return to Chiefs in time for playoffs

Kansas City has dealt with several injuries throughout the 2024 campaign but is lucky enough to get many of their important playmakers back. On Monday, head coach Andy Reid says one more player could be back in time for the Chiefs’ first playoff game.

The Chiefs watched several of their star players go to injured reserve, including Hollywood Browns, Isiah Pacheco, Charles Omenihu, and Harrison Butker. All of them eventually returned to the active roster and will be available for the postseason. But could Kansas City get another playmaker back in time for the divisional round? Head coach Andy Reid isn’t making any guarantees but told reporters there’s a potential chance for wide receiver Mecole Hardman to return to the lineup.

“There’s a chance with Mecole [Hardman] and potentially [Jaylen] Watson – I mean potentially. That would be stretching it, though, I think,” said Reid.

Hardman missed the last four games with a knee injury but has been given the green light to practice in a limited capacity. He may not suit up for Kansas City’s Week 18 matchup against the Denver Broncos, but it’s not out of the question he returns for the second round of the AFC playoffs in mid-January.

Jaylen Watson is more of a longshot as he continues to nurse a fractured fibula he suffered back in Week 6.
