Andy Reid says rumors about Eric Bieniemy are fabrications

There’s been a lot of rumors and speculation swirling around on social media that’s caused a wave of misinformation and, in turn, a particular disdain for Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who the team brought back on a one-year deal last Thursday.

The misinformation in question all began with a well-written hit piece that painted Bieniemy, his relationships with players, and his overall standing with the Chiefs in a negative light. The author has since taken down the article.

On Tuesday at the NFL Combine, Head Coach Andy Reid was asked about the rumors that have been floating around since the second-half collapse in the AFC Championship on January 31. In an effort to shut the external grumblings towards Bieniemy once and for all, Reid confirmed the accusations towards his OC are complete fabrications.

Reid was direct with his message.

“This whole thing with Eric Bieniemy that’s been written has gotten kind of fabricated,” said Reid. “We were on vacation, and over the two weeks, I came back, and all of a sudden, it was that I didn’t like Eric and Eric didn’t like me and Pat Mahomes and everybody else. That’s not the case. We all get along good, and I’m glad he’s back with us and rolling. I thought he’d potentially get a head coaching job, which I would have been happy with, too, but that’s not how it worked out.

“Anyway, I just wanted to put that to rest. The rest of the time is yours.”
