Andy Reid comments on Justyn Ross’ legal situation

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Wednesday and commented on wide receiver Justyn Ross’ legal situation after he was arrested and released on bond from Johnson County jail in Olathe, Kansas, earlier this week.

“With Justyn Ross, just addressing that up front,” Reid began. “We’re taking in all of the information and have been. We’ll continue to do that. [Ross] back here. He’ll work today, and we’ll take it from there. Other than that, I don’t have any information other than what we have gathered.”

Ross was arrested and charged with domestic violence and criminal damage to property valued at less than $1,000 on Monday. He was released on a $2500 bond after his virtual court hearing on Tuesday, in which the second-year pro pleaded not guilty to both charges. He is scheduled to return to court on December 4.

Ross is accused of getting into an altercation with his ex-girlfriend at their apartment complex, where he allegedly dragged her around the home, damaging the residence and some of her belongings, including her cell phone, laptop, computer monitor, and car key.

After his release, Ross returned to the Chiefs and is practicing with the club as they prepare for their upcoming Week 8 matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Regarding what’s next for Ross and what the future holds for him and the Chiefs, Reid explained the team will let law enforcement complete their investigation before taking the following steps.

“Listen, all the situations are different, so obviously, the law enforcement part of it, you listen to the real details of what went on, and then we keep open communication with [General Manager] Brett [Veach], myself, and our people that deal with the law enforcement. Then, we make the final decision from there.”

After law enforcement has completed its investigation, the NFL will likely step in and commence its investigation before determining how to discipline the young receiver, which he probably won’t serve until next season.

Kansas City can choose to move on from Ross anytime if they decide it is best for both sides.
