Andy Reid says Hollywood Brown ‘is going to be back’ in latest injury update

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided a new update surrounding wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown’s shoulder injury he suffered on Saturday against Jacksonville.

Brown suffered a Sternoclavicular joint injury on the first play of the Chiefs’ first preseason game of the year and did not return. After Monday’s practice at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Andy Reid took to the podium with some excellent news.

“Hollywood [Brown], they were able to get the joint back into place without surgery, which is a positive,” said Reid. “Then we’ll just see how the recovery is back in Kansas City now. He stayed over in Jacksonville until they got that thing situated.”

Brown’s injury is similar to the injury Tyreek Hill suffered when he was a member of the Chiefs in 2019. Reid is relieved that his veteran receiver won’t need surgery, which means he won’t be out for an extended amount of time. Reid took time to elaborate on his team’s plans at WR without Brown in the lineup.

“The positive there is that he’s going to be back, [but] without him in there [with] his experience in the league, but we’ve also got other guys who can step in and play well, we will be okay there,” Reid explained. “It’s just we’re pulling for him to get back on. We’ll see how that goes.”

Brown will likely be out for the rest of the preseason. Going forward, the team’s doctors will work to get him healthy for Kansas City’s season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5.
