Chiefs sign XFL standout WR Juwan Green.

On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs made a few changes to its preseason roster, adding another pass catcher to an already stacked room of wide receivers.

According to team report Matt McMullen, the Chiefs signed former XFL sensation Juwan Green. However, this move has yet to be made official.

Green, 25, began his pro football career as an undrafted free agent from the University of Albany. As a rookie, he landed on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad in 2020. In 2021, he was released from the team and spent time on the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans practice teams over the next two seasons. In 2023, he found a starting role with the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons, playing in ten games and starting six. He finished the season with 29 catches for 429 yards and six touchdowns. Green has not taken a snap in an NFL game thus far into his career.

Kansas City made two other roster transactions on Monday evening. According to the NFL’s transaction report, the team waived wide receiver Kekoa Crawford and defensive back Anthony Witherstone.

Crawford signed with the Chiefs in mid-June after trying out for the team during rookie mini-camp. He caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown in the first preseason against the Saints. However, an unspecified injury prevented him from practicing last Thursday, and did not travel with the team for their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday. He’ll likely be released with an injury settlement if he clears waivers.

Witherstone was released from Kansas City’s Reserved/Injured list with an injury settlement.
