2024 Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Recap: Day 3

The Kansas City Chiefs returned to the practice field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for Day 3 of training camp on Tuesday morning.

The Chiefs began and ended practice with no new injuries outside of those who are already currently out of action. Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (triceps), defensive end Charles Omenihu (ACL), left guard Joe Thuney (pec), and cornerback Jaylen Watson (labrum), are still on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. And safety Justin Reid and defensive lineman B.J. Thompson remain on the Non-Football Injury list.

Additionally, wide receiver Xavier Worthy (illness) and cornerback Kelvin Joseph (excused) also missed practice for the second consecutive day.

While yesterday featured plenty of defensive plays, Tuesday was exclusively heavy with offense. This presented a small taste of just how lethal the Chiefs offense could be during the regular season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was particularly on fire throughout Tuesday’s practice.

During 11-on-11 drills, Mahomes connected with tight end Travis Kelce on his first throw before showcasing his athletic ability by rolling out and throwing across his body to Justin Watson.

Mahomes wasn’t the only one making plays. Arrowhead Pride’s Pete Sweeney reported that cornerback Trent McDuffie made a nice play by breaking up a pass that was intended for wide receiver Nikko Remigio. On the next play, however, Mahomes cashed in on a deep bomb to Rashee Rice.

Mahomes showed how explosive the offense can be with the number of playmakers the club has. During 11 v. 11, the Super Bowl MVP floated a pass to rookie tight end Jared Wylie for a big gain.

During 7-on-7 drills, Mahomes slung a pass to Hollywood Brown on a deep post pattern for a touchdown.

Mahomes even brought out the no-look pass during 11-on-11 drills, hitting Remigio right in the hands for the completion.

Speaking of Remigio, the second-year wide receiver showed what he can do on special teams as a return specialist.

Hollywood Brown was also seen returning punts.

The Chiefs will resume practice at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. Which will be the final non-padded practice of training camp before the pads return on Friday. The team will not practice on Thursday.
