2022 NFL Schedule Leak: Chargers @ Chiefs to be first TNF matchup

The official reveal of the 2022 NFL schedule isn’t until May 12th, but we officially know the date and time of one game which was announced during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Before the announcement of the New Orleans Saints’ pick at eleventh overall, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell came on stage accompanied by HOF tight end Tony Gonzalez and Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler to announce Amazon Prime as the league’s newest television partner for every Thursday Night Football matchup during the 2022 season.

Thursday Night Football will begin on September 15 to open Week 2 of the season and will feature quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs hosting Just Herbert and the Chargers at GEHA field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Herbert and Mahomes have added to an already historic rivalry that goes back to the old days of the AFL. In four games between the two quarterbacks, both are deadlocked with two wins apiece. The last time the two clubs met on Thursday Night Football was last season in Week 15 as Mahomes led the Chiefs to a thrilling 34-28 overtime victory from Levi Stadium in L.A.
